Today in the Gump
So, it turns out we don't put a lot of people to death here. Alabama killed 2 people in 2004, which pales in comparison to Texas' 23. 23! That's two a month all year! You could watch more executions than new episodes of Prison Break at that rate. I can see it now....
[Insert Summer Blockbuster Voice]
"This week, on an all new Death Row: Texas - a Mad Man was convicted of supporting John Kerry during the Democratic Primaries, and will now pay the price - OR WILL HE!? (show some black man tied to the chair, and the red phone on the wall of the electrocution chamber starts ringing)"
So yeah, two men. That's still more deaths than, um, 40 OTHER STATES. We're in the top ten! Granted, we're tied with Nevada, Georgia, and Florida....but come on, Washinton D.C. Only (officially) killed one dude! I guess when you just assassinate, kidnap, or deport anyone in your state that causes problems, it's pretty easy to only have to really kill one guy. But geez, of all the shit that goes down in DC, you'd think it'd at least beat out alabama....
In related news, we have more executions annually per capita than any other state.
Also, skim over this: The Southern Film Icentives
If you want to be involved or just voice your support, which you damn well better at least do that, email film@ado.state.al.us. It's a shame that Alabama has so much to offer from a cultural point of view but so little to offer competitvely with other states.
I thought Oklahoma's tax cut for building facilities would be extremely valuable to Alabama. I mean that's one of the biggest problems we have here, that all of the film company's barely dodge Alabama due to better deals in states like Louisiana. Louisiana multiplied their film business TEN FOLD when they came out with their list of benefits. All of the states in the south aside from us changed their laws to follow suit.
Here we come as usual, bringing up the rear. At least we got a trophy.

You said in an earlier post that you would write reviews for movies.
Well I want to hear some of it. I enjoy your critical approach to film and I especially want to know what you thought of "Everything Is Illuminated" if you have seen it.
Thanks
I will be glad to talk about everything is illuminated, that's a good one. It'll probably be really soon.
